Because Rabbits

A sea of carrot tops are ready to be harvested and run through the dehydrator.

The Mother Root

These are parasitic wasp cocoons attached to some carrot top,
they caught my attention because they looked like a wad of gum.

A Facebook group I'm in identified them for me, they're beneficial so they've been put in a safe spot until they hatch.

  1. The top shot is amazing - so lush! It looks like a fairy tale jungle.

  2. Very pretty garden you have. Once upon a time I thought I wanted a garden. Then I talked to some gardeners. I decided I'd rather play golf. :)

    1. It is a calling, I suppose much like golf. Given a choice I would stick with gardening.

  3. What do you do with the dehydrated carrot tops? And what do you mean "the mother root"? Did all the carrot tops come from this same "plant" Carrots are so precious!

    1. I have a house rabbit, Julie, and the carrot tops are for him. He gets them fresh and dehydrated, he's not choosy. I suppose I should have said "A" mother root as there are many and they are not eaten, too big and rangy and tough by the time we get done with them. Also, contrary to popular belief, while rabbits adore carrots, there's too much sugar in them so they should only eat them in small amounts.

  4. So, you use the carrot top to provide the greenery for the rabbit.
