We had lunch at
Felix's Fish Camp Grill today. After I finished my meal I walked around to explore their amazing complex of ancient doors and shutters and found an outdoor bar downstairs - open only at night? - with a sand floor covered in footprints.
The sand on the side of the bar closest to the mud flats of Mobile Bay? A virtual highway of coon paw prints.
They must come out after closing time to scavenge - or maybe they're just dancing along with everyone else.
Although this has changed names and been reconstructed after hurricanes, it continues to serve great food at a reasonable price. Oh, yes the racoons and the gators are never far away!

You have your problems from time to time (BIG PROBLEMS), but what price beauty? Would you change it for any other place? If so, where?
ReplyDeleteUm, a joint dance party could get pretty clumsy. The header photo is fabulous - what atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing complex of doors. I've always loved your footprints in the sand photos ... made me look for them myself.
ReplyDeletelove these. great post!
ReplyDeleteLove your banner photo and the footprints are priceless. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteG, I thought so. I can't remember the name the last time I was there, and it looked different inside.
ReplyDeleteAH, if the news is to be believed there aren't too many places without weather/environmental problems. Maybe it just seems like we've had more than our share. Then again, we didn't have the Station Fire.
BC, raccoons ARE a dicey lot.
JE, yeah, I have a thing about that.
BC, it's a typical sight here on the Gulf Coast. but I never tire of it.
BF, Florida=sand!
Your foot prints/paw prints make me nostalgic for my childhood days on Fire Island. Sure, I live in Southern California but I rarely get to the beach. Fabulous photos - the doors and beach grass too.
ReplyDeleteThat series of doors is amazing. The fact that no twwo are alike. What is it's purpose? Is it some kind of fencing?
ReplyDeleteDancing racoons--a fun thought. But I don't want another family in the garage rafters. I like the sand and grass images too.
ReplyDeleteWe saw lots of racoons in south Florida along the beach area...but I've not seen one here in Ocala although I know they live here, too.
ReplyDeleteStrange!
