Sky Watch Friday: Juvenile Osprey - Mom, Is That You?

Late Monday afternoon, under a clear blue sky out at Ft Pickens on Pensacola Beach, this medium-sized little bear was cheeping away while I was shooting with my telephoto from a fair distance. I'm wondering if the object the arrow is pointing to is Mom? As plaintive as Baby Osprey's calls were, someone was expected - and it wasn't me. The damaged trees are from Hurricane Ivan that blew through 7 years ago this month.

Fly here to join in this week's Sky Watch Friday.

Fascinating creatures, birds. I've taught my cockatiel to sing the opening bars to Peer Gynt's Morning Song. Sort of. After five notes he starts to improvise.

Just like a teenager!
I love the shapes of the trees, stripped of their bark!

AH, I would love to have a bird but the three I already have keep me busy enough.

Judy, just like one. Big baby!

No doubt mommy Osprey was watching the watcher!
Ospreys here are a protected species, and due to idiots who have stolen their eggs in previous years the locations of nesting sites are now kept secret.
Wonderful to be able to watch and photograph them like this.

No doubt the lone little bird had an eye for somethings. Nicely done.

Wonderful shot of the osprey.

You've created a nice narrative for him and them. I'd never have noticed the possibility of Mom on her way.

I know next to nothing about ospreys, but they are great looking creatures, esp. in combination with these skeletal trees.
