Grillin'

Summer = it's time to grill - provided you don't buy free range charcoal which is so big and chunky you have to break it up first with a sledge hammer to get it to fit into your little grill. But, once the hired help/husband has done that it's time to break out the olive oil, salt, pepper, and Tony Chachere and get serious about roasted veggies.

We grilled homegrown:
  • figs topped with feta cheese and wrapped in our fresh basil leaves
  • summer squash
  • cucumbers
  • baby bell peppers
  • baby butternut squash
Store bought comestibles:

My favorites:
  • grilled figs with feta, consider the basil optional - amazingly tasty
  • cucumbers - divine
  • summer squash - divine
  • baby butternut squash - scrumptious
Another night: tomatoes, cucumbers, and baby eggplant, maybe more andouille sausage. I might need rehab before it's all over.

You're so elegant. My finger-food comes freeze dried. Maybe with fingers.

I'm really sorry I haven't been by much since you've been posting again. It's not because of your photos. It'd more like I let my life get way too crowded.

This stuff looks delicious and it's beautifully portrayed. My cooking skills have atrophied since most of my time is spent working or messing with photographs. I've got to pass this along to the family executive chef.

Paula, I can smell that from here and it is calling my name! And, I am not that far away!!

I think that the figs, Feta, and basil would float my boat...

Wow, I've had the fig and feta combo. It was at a party and I was eating them to the point of embarrassing myself. I forgot all about that. So you've added basil as well. This looks easy enough that I think I could do it. Until then....

    Can I come over tonight?

The figs with feta on basil leaves are gorgeous. I grilled prosciutto-wrapped shrimp on skewers from my rosemary bush once and served them with the recommended mint pesto (which sounds pretty awful to me, still, but it was great).

Your other grilled veggies are beautiful, too.
