Po'Boys, Hot Chicken Wings, Fried Rice & Taxes

T & D Po'Boys and H & R Block are holding down the fort at Mobile Hwy and Edison Dr. I do my own taxes, which, according to Louis Tully, you know you shouldn't do, and I haven't tried T & D's yet so this isn't a normal stop for me but I just had to stop last night. It was long past supper time and I was so hungry, the signage looked good enough to eat.

  3. PJ, I like good crawfish just not their bad smell. Plus, I really like your new header!

If a prof were to review your prior tax rtns you mite bee pleasantly surprised at what was found.

  6. If they could just combine the two businesses, they may have a real winner.

  7. What could be better than a cheeseburger po'boy after leaving H & R Block? Comfort food right at hand. Wonder if H&R located there on purpose?

  9. That's the only thing I miss about living in the South, especially the coastal South-- the FOOD.

  11. We passed that place the last time we were in town and both agreed we want to try it out - but we were running late and will have to stop another day.

  12. CO, we used to have an accountant do our taxes. When my husband stopped traveling we started doing our own. What kinds of things should we be looking for?

JE, learn how to make a roux, it's the base for the gumbo. And don't let anyone tell you you have to do it in a cast iron skillet. My in-laws are from Southwest Louisiana and all those women use the microwave.

Bibi, I'm waiting for the cold snap to to over. No point in going to a drive-up in freezing weather.

B2, um, Godfather, my thoughts exactly.

BL, it's a sad looking little building, lime green and weeded over for most of the year.

AH, corocdile, or elses alligator. I didn't see any but maybe chef has a private stash...I'll ask.

Ilex, I'm constantly balancing my love for Southern cooking with healthier eating. Before I photographed this I was shopping for veggies I'm not familiar with:
    swiss chard
    rutubaga
    turnip
    beets
    fennel
Also some new grains like buckwheat and barley. I'm having fun finding recipes and shopping for the other ingredients.

Kaye, they're channeling retro, that's a certainty. I love the graphics, so much promise.

Sandcastle Momma, I'll be interested to compare notes with you, see who made the biggest mess, licked the most fingers.

  14. PJ, of course I don't know your specific situation to say the least. But, in general, anything and everything!
I've learned not to take anything for granted when cking tax rtns. I try not to bee too surprised anymore by what I find.
