Most of what you see here are unremarkable in and of themselves, until you try to photograph them and then you find out how complex and unyielding they are. Throw all the good glass at them you want, unless you marry it up with the right lighting at the right moment they're not giving up their more subtle aspects. From a photographer's point of view that might be what makes them such beauties.Photographed in East Milton and Gulf Breeze in Santa Rosa County.

Oh I think you did a fine job. Who can't love the lower right. The lower middle. The upper middle.
such delicate beauty -- love them all!
Yes Autumn is more subtle in some places. You have done a lovely job or catching the nuances of it here.
I also should have said it's not just individual photos that are beautiful here (specially love the on in the right corner) but the careful selection and placement of the images to make a lovely overall effect.
The devil is in the detail, always the detail. You have just great detail here, Paula. I always get more of an idea of the essence of the beauty of something by looking at parts thereof. I agree with Joan, that often it is the combination of images that shows the essence of the whole rather than showing the whole.
I much prefer the subtle to the gaudy. Provocative post.
A lovely collage of Autumn. You have a wonderful eye and execute your vision beautifully. All of the images are great, but I'm partial to the purple muhly grass. A garden favorite.
Ain't that the truth. I'm glad they made it to your blog - I find that the subtle beauty like that gets elbowed out by other scenes. (the purple one is exquisite)
Who needs those gaudy colors everyone else in the country raves about? Give me the simple life anytime. I just bought a pot of that muhly grass the other day after desiring it for so long. It's so delicate!
AH, I like the specifics.
Miss Mary, I learn from you.
JE, thank you for the lovely thoughts.
Julie, I always appreciate your thoughtful observations.
Bayside, I love, love, love muhly grass, especially the purple.
Tash, we aim to please.
W2W, I expect to see photographic proof, you lucky duck.
Purple muhly grass, is that bottom right?
