Fuel

Memorial Day at The Crab Trap, a fine mist falling on Pensacola Bay, the table is covered in water droplets. The fuel barge seen above maneuvers to dock so I'll have gas for my car.

Farther out on the Intracoastal Waterway a coal barge heads to the Crist Plant so I'll have electricity.

Finally, the gumbo, the crab cakes with the remoulade sauce, the blackened amberjack, and all the trimmings arrive to fuel us.

Today is our 31st Wedding Anniversary.
We're leaving in a little while to go to a little BBQ joint we know...

First, congratulations on your anniversary. Long marriages like yours have become an accomplishment. It says something about the kind of people you and your husband are.

Second, this is a really nice mini-story and series of photos. I just finished dinner but now I want to fly down to the Gulf and eat some more.

Happy 31st. We had ours in April. I love the world you are surrounded by. How I need to live near water. I miss it terrible. Sometimes I feel just like Sarah Wheaton.

Thanks for all the best wishes. We're not really sure how we made it this far, mostly we just kept our heads down and just slogged through it all! We did celebrate by having what is quite possibly the best BBQ I've ever eaten and I also count that as one of my lifetime achievements.

Wonderful accomplishment! Hope you had a super time...I know you had good vittles!

That thing about Crist. You know I just knew he was a plant! Boy, "they" really snuck one over on us this time!

Thanks again, everyone. We feel like we're an endangered species.

J, I hadn't thought about that, but you're right, they're one and the same. :P
