I was headed home from Gulf Breeze yesterday and decided to swing through downtown. As I turned the corner of Garden and Palafox I saw this, the 9/11 monument mottled by the shadows from the fabulous mottled myrtles. It's a stoneware piece by Peter King & Xinia Marín of Stonehaus. The building in the background is the Federal Courthouse.

un bel hommage au 9/11, sculpture originale.
Pleasing sculpture. I like the play of the light and shadows across it.
Thanks for the visit..
I love the new banner. Pelican is now up on my blog, you visited an hour or two early.
This is the first time I'm seeing this monument so I'm glad you posted the color version too. It's a lovely piece. And so are the light and shadows in the monochrome.
You couldn't drive by the dappled light could you!!! Neither could I . Well done and a lovely tribute for your city to make. Oh and I love me some VInce Gill. My fav is "Two Hearts Beat as One" and "Some Day Love Will Come"!

I like the B & W especially, very striking.
Good morning, everyone! I love being able to use my blog as a darkroom, learingin what works best in monochrome and what sings in color. I have other mottled shots that I'll be featuring from that shoot
V, I didn't list a song for today, I thought I would let the monument speak for itself. I'll be showing other aspects of this piece on another day so you can see the details.
Mr King did quite a few monument for your town, seen on the link.
I love the grey tone of your B&W picture.
It's a beautiful monument.
I'm constantly amazed and humbled when I see a memorial in a city not directly affected. I might feel more emotional than some people - I knew a man who died in NY that day.
Buck, I'm sorry to know about your friend. I think we have all been affected by 9/11 in one way or the other, especially when flying and making reservations for one thing or another. I think it's possible that I was being watched from inside the Federal Courthouse while I was photographing this and that it's also possible I shouldn't have that image of the courthouse in the background.
beautifully presented!
