These trees can be found along Palafox Street in downtown Pensaocla.
Seeing them brings horses to mind: Pintos, Buckskins, Palominos, Appaloosas.
Maybe even giraffes.
I didn't start out to photograph these trees, I was intent on a couple of other nearby subjects. but if keeping a daily blog does nothing else for your consciousness it really makes you pay attention to detail. I have to admit that as many times as I've driven past these crape myrtles, hundreds of times at the very least, I had never noticed the mottling before. Getting out with camera and tripod and walking all over town has been a real eye opener. Simple but true.

You said it! I notice all sorts of details and drive my 13 yr-old son crazy (there she goes again).
That's a really nicely done progression - the colors are so rich. I've enjoyed your 'away from home' photos very much.
Absolutely. I can't even drive down the road anymore for looking for potential photos. I too dearly love the shaggy bark of the crape myrtle (thank you for spelling it correctly). I have not been successful in catching it but you did a grand job.
